Why the World Should Hear Japan’s Perspective

最近、在日中国大使館が公式に、
「サンフランシスコ講和条約は不法で無効」
と強く発言しました。
理由は、中国は条約に参加していない だから日本の戦後の領土処理は認めない という主張です。
このメッセージは日本だけでなく、国際社会に“中国版歴史”を押し出すための発信 と見られています。
Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Japan declared that
“The San Francisco Peace Treaty is illegal and invalid.”
They argue that because China was not a signatory,
they do not recognize the postwar territorial arrangements involving Japan.
This message is aimed not only at Japan but also at the global community,
as part of an effort to promote a China-centered version of history.

ここ最近の中国の発言を見ていて、
本当に自分たちが何を言っているのか理解しているのか？
と感じることが増えています。
もし、中国の言うように
「サンフランシスコ条約が無効」
だとするなら、論理的には
台湾 満州 その他の旧領地 も、日本に“帰ってくる”という解釈も成り立ってしまいます。
つまり、中国自身の主張が、自らの首をしめる矛盾を生んでいる のです。
国際秩序とは、都合が悪いときだけ否定して良いものではありません。
長い時間をかけて積み上げられた合意を急に覆せば、アジアだけでなく、世界全体の不信感と混乱を拡大するだけです。
だからこそ日本は沈黙してはいけません。
事実と歴史、国際法に基づき、冷静に、しかしはっきりと 世界へ発信し続けるべきだと思います。

Watching China’s recent statements,
I increasingly wonder whether
they truly understand the consequences of what they are claiming.
If China insists that
“the San Francisco Peace Treaty is invalid,”
then logically, it could also mean that
Taiwan, Manchuria, and other former territories would “return” to Japan under that same logic.
In other words, China’s argument creates a contradiction
that tightens the noose around its own position.
International agreements cannot simply be dismissed when they become inconvenient.
Undoing decades of established order does not bring stability—
it only spreads confusion and distrust across the world.
This is exactly why Japan must not stay silent.
We should continue to communicate our position—
clearly, calmly, and based on facts, history, and international law.
