What’s Next for the Weak Yen?: My Thoughts After Witnessing 50 Years of Japan
8月に日米で協調介入が行われたにもかかわらず、またたく間に円安へと揺り戻してしまいました。
長引くゼロ金利政策、そしてかつてのような「ものづくり大国」としての勢いにも陰りが見える今、为替介入も「焼け石に水」なのかもしれません。
私が生きてきたこの50年。日本は本当に強く、世界でもトップクラスの経済大国でした。アメリカに次ぐリーダー的存在として、誰もがその力を認めていた时代です。
でも、今は……。
もちろん、日本が今でも美しく、素晴らしい国であることに変わりはありません。
けれど、やはり多くのものが昔とは変わってきてしまいました。経済の低迷は、治安の悪化にもつながっているように感じます。子供の頃に比べると、世の中が少しギスギスしてしまった気がしてなりません。
今、日本はどのように立ち直っていけばいいのでしょうか。
これからの未来を、ただ見守ることしかできないのでしょうか。
What’s Next for the Weak Yen?: My Thoughts After Witnessing 50 Years of Japan
Despite joint intervention by Japan and the U.S. in August, the yen has quickly swung back towards depreciation.
With the prolonged zero-interest rate policy and the fading momentum of our once-great “monosukuri” (manufacturing) power, it seems that currency intervention might just be a drop in the ocean.
In the 50 years I have lived, Japan was truly strong, ranking as one of the world’s top economic powers. It was an era where everyone acknowledged our position as a leader, second only to the United States.
But now…
Of course, Japan remains a beautiful and wonderful country.
However, many things have changed from the past. I feel that the economic downturn has led to a worsening of public safety. Compared to when I was a child, society feels a bit more strained and harsh.
How can Japan rise up again now?
Can we do nothing but watch over our future?
